Despite some uncertainty over gold prices, trading activity continues to be brisk and many stocks posted respectable gains over our market week. Flow-through financings have tended to extend traditional exploration periods, giving the market more time to react to favorable results.
Among the more active issues was Kingdom Resources which recorded a turnover of approximately 1.8 million shares for a 7 cents gain to 25 cents . The company recently completed a $193,000 financing which will be used to explore its Terrace Bay gold property. Drilling should begin any day now. Capella Resources also came on gangbusters, rising 14 cents to 29 cents on 1.5 million shares and Skyline was busy for yet another week, gaining 77 cents to $2.77. Skyline has been reporting some exceptionally high grade results from its Reg claim group in northwestern B.C. At last report it encountered visible gold in the No. 16 zone. The stock was active and 2 cents higher at $2.79.
Trans Atlantic Resources jumped $1.20 to $3.50 while Goldera Resources closed the week 85 cents better at $2.35. Trans Atlantic is drilling its Standard Creek property near Bralorne, B.C. and could extend the program into 1987 depending on results. Goldera has been testing a proprietary gold leaching process at its pilot plant in Arizona.
Goldhurst Resources shot up 85 cents to $3.10 after the company announced the Mexican government had accepted its application for a placer mining lease. It also said that drilling would begin at its Beardmore, Ont., property in early November. Meanwhile Larch Resources climbed 50 cents to 88 cents , but the company said it was unaware of the reason for the recent increases in price and volume for its shares, New listings for the week included: Venture Gold (formerly Golden Reef Resources); Perimeter Vent ures (formerly Payday Resources); Telepanel Inc. (formerly Westsun Petroleums and Minerals); Marlborough Productions (formerly Ranald Resources); Universal Pre-Vent (formerly Banquest Resources); Security Environmental Systems (formerly Jetta Resources); and Can-Mac Exploration (formerly Maclan Exploration). The VSE reports a short position of 4.4 million shares and warrants as of Oct 24. Some larger positions included: Quartz Mountain Gold, 407,100; Med-Tech Systems, 196,400; Happy Resources, 142,900; Galactic Resources, 142,400; and Windarra Minerals, 132,700.
