A new piece of cyanide recycling technology developed by the Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology and Witteck Development Inc. of Mississauga, Ont., (N.M., Aug 8/85) will soon be marketed by a new company, Cy-tech Inc.
At an inaugural demonstration set for Oct 1 at Mississauga’s Sheridan Park, Cy-tech will begin a national campaign to show the advantages of the patented ion exchange resin technology to the gold mining industry. The company has assembled a pilot plant in a tractor trailer which will soon travel to the major gold mining camps in northern Ontario and Quebec.
Re-using deadly cyanide instead of discharging it to the environment could save the industry considerably in ore treatment costs while satisfying government environmental regulations at the same time.
