Vancouver-based Achilles Resources is going to carry out a second-phase follow-up program of exploratory drilling on its 69-claim Casa Berardi gold property in Estrees twp. which it holds under option from Noranda Exploration. This will involve at least 12,000 ft and is expected to get under way within a week or so, a company spokesman tells The Northern Miner. It will cost upwards of $500,000, the financing of which has already been provided for.
Under the terms of its agreement with Noranda, Achilles can earn a 50% interest in this property by spending $2,000,000 by Dec 3l, 1988.
It lies about four kilometres south of a band of airborne conductors that host the Golden Pond deposit of Inco and Golden Knight which is now being developed underground.
Last winter eight holes totalling 6,500 ft were put down under Noranda’s management. That company will likewise manage this new program.
