I read with interest your nice article Sept 1, 1986, regarding the proposed merger of Pamour and Giant Yellowknife. During the past year articles said Pamour was bought by a mining company from Australia called Jimberlana Minerals. If you could shed any light on this sale, it would certainly be appreciated. A.C., Santa Ana, Calif. Control of Pamour Porcupine Mines changed hands in February, 1986, when Noranda Inc. sold its 49% interest. Jimberlana Holdings (Canada), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jimberlana Minerals of Australia, ended up with a 37.4% interest and control of the company.
Pamour’s name has since been changed to Pamour Inc. Pamour is still listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange while Jimberlana Minerals is listed on the Sydney Stock Exchange in Australia.
Most recently, Pamour has sold its mining operations to Giant Yellowknife Mines. In return, Pamour gains enough shares of Giant to give it a 50.1% interest.
