Montreal Exchange Vior jumps by 50%

Tight-lipped Sigma Mines permitted Vior to release results of a super hole drilled on Vior’s Ligneris Twp. property. Hole 73 cut 40 ft grading 0.35 oz gold per ton, although results from some check assays are awaited.

Sigma has an option to earn a 50% interest in the property, but its option deal gives it the right to dispense all news. The Dome Mines subsidiary has been very restrained in giving out information, so news of this hole has been given special significance.

Sigma has to make a cash payment of $300,000 to Vior by March 11 to keep its option in good standing, so investors are watching to see if Sigma feels the property warrants that payment.

Meanwhile, Vior jumped by about 50% from $1.55 to $2.25 during the week on 423,200 shares. Apart from the Ligneris Twp. property, Vior has invested in some industrial mineral concerns that promise to produce cash flow very quickly.

The most active issue on the exchange this week was North American Rare Metals. It was unchanged at 55 cents but 561,500 shares changed hands.

Drill results have returned four intersections grading 0.11 oz gold per ton over 9 ft or better with one intersection of 18.7 ft grading 0.19 oz on a property in Vezza Twp. east of the Casa Berardi area and about 20 miles east of the Agnico-Eagle mine in Joutel Twp.

More results are awaited from five more holes and the company has two rigs working on the property on which it is a 50% joint venture partner with Dundee-Palliser Resources, a TSE-listed company.

Wrightbar continued its steady climb upward as it gained 10 cents to close at $2.15 on 180,800 shares. Belmoral Mines seems to be well on its way to making a mine on the Wrightbar property in Bourlamaque Twp. near Val d’Or, Que.

Yorbeau picked up 3 cents to close at 68 cents as it traded 336,700 shares. The company has been fairly quiet of late but seems to be working steadily toward a production decision on its Astoria property near Rouyn, Que. A modest ore reserve figure released by Oasis Resources in January seem s to have done little for the stock price. Oasis was down 7 cents on 107,800 shares to close at 50 cents .
