Drilling by equal partners Stroud Resources and Chevron Minerals has intersected gold mineralization 1,600 ft northwest of known mineralization on the Hislop property near Ramore, Ont.
Located northwest of the producing Ross gold mine, the Hislop ground covers a stockwork of quartz veins occurring in a northwest trend striking from the Ross mine. In order to evaluate the property using new geological information, the partners drilled six holes 1,600 ft northwest of the Main zone on the property. The best hole, No 7, cut a 9.2-ft section grading 0.345 oz gold per ton. Another hole, on a second section, intersected 6.6 ft grading 0.224 oz. The other holes intersected similar widths of core assaying approximately 0.12 oz.
A re-evaluation of more than 30,000 ft of drill core, acquired by previous operators, yielded a number of high grade assays from core left unsplit. Based on this data, Chevron and Stroud have calculated a geological reserve of 102,000 tons grading 0.17 oz in the Main zone.
Follow-up drilling will test the area between the new discovery and the Main zone deposit. Chevron is the project operator.
