The American Mining Congress says the most complete mining show ever held in the U.S., will be staged April 24-28 next year, at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
For the first time, MINExpo International ’88, as it will be known, will combine two previously separate amc-sponsored shows — the International Mining and the International Coal shows. Starting with next year’s show, minexpo will be held every four years.
According to the amc, the Chicago show next year will feature some 300,000 square feet of exhibits of mining equipment and services as well as educational sessions for mining management.
More than 25,000, of whom about 15% will come from foreign countries, are expected to attend.
Congress President John Knebel says the size of the show reflects the gradual improvement taking place in the mining economy. “The response to it is an indication of the optimism in the industry,” he said.
