An exploration program is under way on the Monique property, located about 26 km east of Val d’Or, Que., which will continue until January, Monicor Exploration reports.
Analyses of two drill holes have been released. Results from one hole indicate an average weight cut of 6.28 g gold per ton over 4.05 m, while results from the other hole indicate an average weight cut of 5.31 g over 3.9 m.
The two drillings extend easterly, by 60 m, the 340-m central zone known through previous exploration work performed by Louvem Inc., the company reports.
At the Simon-West project, located about 50 km east of Val d’Or, construction has begun on the property ramp. Drilling has confirmed an extension towards the west ore lenses A and B, and a new ore lens, situated between A and B and designated lens C, has been discovered. The company says all three lenses will be accessible from the ramp.
Among the better drill results released from lens C were hole No 87-27, 30.2 g gold over 0.5 m, and hole No 87-26, 10.3 g over 1 m.
Known on an extension of 200 m, lens C, according to geologists, is located on geological structure similar to that of zone 5 of the Chimo mine, the company reports.
Monicor expects the first drifts for the underground exploration of ore lenses A, B and C at the first level to be in operation toward the end of November.
