50 Years Ago DECEMBER, 1937 STRAW LAKE DRIFTS IN HIGH GRADE

Drifting to date on the No. 1 shoot east on the 425-ft level at Straw Lake Beach Mines shows it to be of considerably higher grade than the same shoot on the 300-ft horizon where it showed an average of $14.01 over 32 inches for 140 ft. The average value on the 425-ft level after cutting down erratics is $35 per ton over 33.71 inches for a length of 65 ft with the face still in ore. Face sampling showed values after cutting from $5.24 over 23 inches to $10.75 over 44 inches. Reprinted from The Northern Miner, December 1937.
