Bonanza is drilling a group of 14 claims, east of a past-producing base metal mine.
The company has completed a total of five drill holes so far, but assay results are available for only one. Bonanza reports that massive sulphides were intersected over widths of up to 19 ft (5.8 m) in the other holes for which assay results are pending.
Also, a program of down-hole geophysical surveying is being conducted to further define the base metal target zones on the property.
The objective of the surface drilling program is to intercept near- surface extensions to past-producing mineralized zones and to probe for new occurrences. The Bonanza claims are adjacent to the former Poirier Mine property, where existing reserves have been estimated at 585,701 tonnes grading 10.61% zinc, and 514,750 tonnes grading 2.45% copper.
Shares of Bonanza Metals have traded at around 80 cents recently on The Alberta Stock Exchange.
