Cameco has extended the annual summer shutdown at its Blind River and Port Hope uranium refineries to four months in 1990.
Both facilities will be shut down in mid-June and will resume operations in October.
Cameco was forced to make the decision due to poor uranium market conditions. Deliveries of product from inventory will be made throughout the shutdown period. This will enable Cameco to reduce its inventories, lower operating costs and improve the competitiveness of the company’s Fuel Services division.
