Program planned near Kerr deposit

Since taking control of Kenrich Mining (VSE) and Ambergate Explorations (VSE), Ken Trociuk has spent considerable time and money ensuring the two juniors have clear and undisputed title to their geologically prospective land package in northwestern British Columbia.

The juniors jointly own 57 claims comprising 769 units, including four claims under option to Placer Dome (TSE) which is actively exploring for copper-gold mineralization similar to its adjoining Kerr deposit. The remaining claims, called the Corey property, straddle a large area between the Kerr deposit and the recent Springer-Cove discovery south of Eskay Creek. Some of the ground was previously held by Catear Resources and Bighorn Development and others, and ownership during this period became muddied by a bizarre series of legal and claim disputes. As a result of this uncertainty, Trociuk was unable to interest major companies in a joint venture.

Placer Dome became interested in the land package because Kenrich and Ambergate held the only ground suitable for a mill site near its Kerr deposit, and because title to its four optioned claims was not disputed. The major recently renewed its second-year option of a total package involving payments of $575,000 and $3 million on exploration by the end of 1995. Three anomalous areas were identified on the claims which Placer intends to further explore this summer.

Early this month, Kenrich and Ambergate were jointly awarded a 10% interest in certain claims on the Corey property that were previously held by former Bighorn president John Ernest Wyder. This ruling by the gold commissioner cleared up the last remaining dispute affecting the land package, and Kenrich and Ambergate now have an undivided 50% interest each in the Corey property. The property is considered prospective for “Eskay Creek-type” massive sulphide targets and porphyry copper-gold targets similar to Kerr. A prospect of each type has already been identified on the Corey claims, as well as numerous other showings, from previous work and from recent preliminary work by Placer Dome and Homestake Canada.

Trociuk said Kenrich and Ambergate plan to follow up these targets this summer on their own, or with a joint venture partner.
