Timmins Nickel adds reserves to Dome Mountain mine

Toronto-based Timmins Nickel (TSE) recently reported some encouraging new developments at its Langmuir nickel project near Timmins, Ont., and at the Shaw Dome gold mine in British Columbia.

Timmins Nickel says drilling about 400 ft. north of the Langmuir North zone, which contains half a million tons of 1.2% nickel, has intersected a 47-ft. intersection averaging 1.14%. It is planning to do more drilling this spring.

In another development, Timmins Nickel and partner Habsburg Resources (VSE) have added about 80,000 tons of grade 0.41 oz. gold to preliminary reserves at the Dome Mountain property.

Prior to the announcement, proven and probable reserves stood at 325,000 tons grading 0.36 oz., with an additional 100,000 tons of 0.52 oz. listed in the preliminary category. The bulk of the new material is in an area in front of the 1285-portal to the east of the previously outlined Boulder zone. With a major surface exploration program planned this summer, data from further underground drilling will be used to re-calculate ore reserves. Timmins Nickel believes it has found enough new ore to sustain the operation at the rate of 5,000-6,000 tons per month for about six years.
