Vancouver-listed Minefinders has outlined four gold zones on its two properties in Randolph Cty., N.C.
A 5,000-ft. program of reverse circulation drilling on the Sawyer property confirmed the existence of a highly oxidized, saprolitic gold deposit contained within three separate zones over a strike length of 5,300 ft. Of the 46 holes completed, 34 intersected anomalous gold values with the best intercept averaging 0.173 oz. gold per ton over 50 ft. Values range between 0.016 and 0.173 oz. over widths of between 15 and 75 ft. Virtually all holes were drilled to a depth of 100 ft. below surface.
In addition, five holes were drilled on a 514-acre block two miles northeast of, and along strike with, the Sawyer property. The best results — 0.03 oz. over 40 ft. and 0.021 oz. over 50 ft. — indicate the presence of a fourth gold zone.
More drilling is planned for both properties.
