Surface samples from the Bellechasse project, southeast of Quebec City, continue to return encouraging results for partners Golden Hope Mines (COATS), St. Genevieve Resources (TSE) and Exploration Duverny (ME). The results of the latest 178 grab samples show that the 88 zone carries gold values of up to 6.79 oz. per ton. Visible gold was observed in 16 samples.
Assays from an 8-hole program on the 88 zone are still outstanding, but indicate that mineralization extends over a strike length of about 1,100 ft. and to a depth of 350 ft.
The mineralization is hosted by a vertically dipping gabbro intrusive about 200 ft. wide at surface. The best gold values occur within the gabbro’s five major shear zones, each 25 to 50 ft. wide. Lesser gold values occur between the shear zones within quartz stockwork mineralization.
About 1,500 ft. north of the 88 zone, the Timmins zone returned up to 53.56 oz. gold in the 5-lb. rock samples. Both zones are open for expansion by further stripping or drilling, Golden Hope says.
St. Genevieve and Duverny, a subsidiary of Stratmin (ME), can earn a 50% interest in the Bellechasse property by spending $9 million on exploration over three years.
