The Association of Gaspesian Prospectors, bolstered by financial assistance from both the federal and provincial government, has grown into a vibrant organization with at least 250 members.
Gathered in Quebec’s Gaspe region for what Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada President Fenton Scott described as “an extremely enthusiastic prospectors meeting,” more than 150 conference delegates displayed results from 22 discoveries made during the past year.
Ranging from precious metals to antimony, lead, zinc and copper, eight of these new discoveries were classed as “significant.”
Theme of the mid-June conference was “Mineral resources — a new factor in regional development.”
“The program demonstrated that hard-working prospectors are also a valuable resource,” Scott said.
