The British Columbia Trade Development Corporation has undertaken a study entitled Review and Potential Opportunities of the Mining Industry of the Russian Far East Region.
The study by the Crown corporation, which promotes export and investment in the province, is in response to the growing importance of the Russian Far East (RFE) market, and particularly its mining sector, in the global economy. RFE is considered to be part of the developing Pacific Rim region, which has economic advantages for the province. Mining is one of the leading industries in both regions.
The main elements of the study include a review of gold, coal, copper and other mining sectors in RFE, a short review of Russian mining law, the registration procedures required to participate in mining joint ventures, information on investment opportunities, and a directory of local contacts and foreign businesses in the RFE mining industry.
The corporation has completed another study, entitled Economic Overview and Opportunity Assessment of the Russian Far East Region.
The studies cost $50 each. For more information, contact the Europe Branch of the Crown corporation by phoning (604) 844-3122. Fax: (604) 844-1926.
