Fairfield program

With the completion of the 1994 open pit mining program at the Siwash North gold mine, near Merritt, B.C., Fairfield Minerals (TSE) will begin a $1.5 million underground program.

Ore sales to the Asarco smelter in Helena, Montana, for September totaled 3,000 tons containing 6,600 oz. gold. A further 3,000 tons containing 8,000 oz. is expected to be shipped in October. Sales are projected to total 23,000 oz. for 1994

The underground program will lengthen the existing decline by 1,300 ft. to allow for additional diamond drilling and to test-mine areas using cut-and-fill plus shrinkage-stoping methods. A drill program of 140 holes is expected to begin in the early part of next year to delineate a 120,000-sq.-ft. area using 33-ft. spacing.

Exploration is continuing on Fairfield’s land package near Siwash North.
