Northeastern Turkey is the site of a new gold discovery by Cominco Resources International (TSE).
Situated in the same geological setting as the nearby Saray property, the Rhodo prospect consists of two gold-bearing zones. One zone is defined by a series of quartz vein outcrops scattered along a 700-metre length of a pronounced topographic ridge, 25-40 metres wide.
The unweighted average of 11 chip samples from a 150-metre-long exposure is 4.5 grams gold per tonne, including one sample assaying 9 grams gold over 10 metres.
A second zone, 800 metres away, consists of a central siliceous ridge, 50 by 150 metres in size, occurring within a broader mineralized zone. Ten chip samples collected from one end of the ridge range from 1 to 20 grams per tonne over 4- to 10-metre lengths. Several other siliceous zones have been identified on the property, but remain to be sampled. Drilling is under way.
