Emerging trade issues that affect zinc will be highlighted at the 1995 International Zinc Conference of the American Zinc Association (AZA). The conference is set for Feb. 19-22 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Among the speakers will be the president of Mexican zinc producer Industrias Penoles, Jaime Lomelin, who will address the North American Free Trade Agreement and future open markets. Other speakers will deal with the automotive industry, Asian developments and recycling.
One session will be devoted to the bread-and-butter issues of smelter capacity, general economic fundamentals and mine capacity. A panel discussion on the London Metal Exchange (LME) and tomorrow’s industry will feature LME President David King, Noranda Sales’ David Bumstead and Dofasco’s Jennifer Passalent. A pricing and hedging seminar is also planned.
Representatives from more than 25 countries are expected to attend the conference.
