Recent work by X-Cal Resources (TSE) has defined three new areas for drilling on the Sleeper Extension gold project in Humbolt Cty., Nev.
The junior reported a new discovery under 14 ft. of overburden and set within a strong soil anomaly 1,200 ft. long and open along strike. Trenching in this area exposed a 45-ft. width grading 0.046 oz. gold per ton. The discovery area — situated 8,000 ft. southeast of the Cyprus Amax Sleeper pit — is hosted by Tertiary-age volcanic rock similar to the Sleeper gold mine.
X-Cal also located an anomalous zone parallel to the historic Alma gold mine, about 14,000 ft. southeast of the Sleeper pit. Sampling underground at the Alma returned an 11-ft. width of 4.14 oz.
A third area was defined around the Breccia zone where a surface showing (10 ft. wide of 0.26 oz.) outcrops 17,000 ft. southeast of the Sleeper pit.
