LETTER TO THE EDITOR — Great Lakes puts foot in mouth

In the article “Geomaque resists merger” (T.N.M. May 12/95), Great Lakes Minerals Chairman John McBride refers to information in Geomaque’s letter to shareholders dated June 5, 1995, as “a lot of bunk and propaganda.”

I would like to point out that information in the Geomaque letter referring to Great Lakes was taken directly from the Great Lakes 1994 Annual Report; the first-quarter press release of its joint-venture partner, Hecla Mining; and the prospectus Great Lakes filed last year.
