Drilling on the Nykafuru property in northwestern Tanzania is confirming the continuity of the Number Two East and the Number Two West Reefs for East Africa Gold (VSE).
The East Reef has now been drill-tested over a strike length of 240 metres, with an average width of 10 metres and an average grade of 6.07 grams gold per tonne.
The West Reef has been drilled over a strike length of 200 metres and measures about 4.25 metres in width, with an average grade of 5.64 grams gold.
Additional drilling is planned for the property later in the year.
In the meantime, a reverse-circulation rig is being mobilized to the Kitongo property for a 3,000-metre drill program. The drilling will test a broad zone of anomalous gold mineralization hosted in felsic volcanics and related cherty exhalites. Previous drilling on the property returned consistently elevated gold values of more than half a gram across a 400-metre-wide zone.
East Africa and Kinross Gold (TSE) are earning 51% and 49% interests, respectively, in East Africa Mines, which itself holds an 80% interest in the projects. The remaining 20% is held by the Tanzanian government.
