At the Anchor Hill gold deposit in South Dakota, Dakota Mining (DKT-T) is encouraged by results from ongoing stepout drilling.
Results from the first 14 holes, which were drilled to the northeast and the south of the Anchor Hill orebody, are said to be consistent with the rest of the deposit.
Dakota will continue to drill in these and other areas. In all, the company plans to spend US$500,000 on exploration with the objective of expanding the property’s resource base and extending the mine life.
A new reserve estimate is expected by the fourth quarter.
Anchor Hill, which started up in April, contains proven and probable reserves equivalent to an estimated 243,000 oz. gold. Production for 1996 is projected at 30,000 oz. gold.
