Gold production at Galactic Res. up to 55,000 oz.

Galactic Resources reports December gold production of approximately 6,700 oz from the Summitville, Colo., mine, bringing total gold equivalent production to approximately 55,000 oz, since the initiation of leaching last June.

Chairman Robert Friedland says although the Summitville mine completed the open-pit mining portion of operations for the 1986 season in November, leaching and gold production are anticipated to continue through the first quarter of this year, without interruption.

The mid-November cessation of ore production was in accord with the plan of seasonal ore production at the mine, Mr Friedland says.

Summitville crews have completed work on the 1986 heap leach pad construction segment, allowing sufficient areas for an early 1987 start-up of open pit mining and crushing operations.
