Letter to editor President Reagan a victim?

Congratulations on your editorial on Canada-U.S. relations Jan 12.

Do not be so hard on Reagan. He is only a wacky-minded ham actor at best. Well-heeled conservative business people spent billions to fool a naive electorate to elect him. They knew him well and he has served their purposes with great tax measures and legislation with fine benefits.

Agreements now mean nothing either here or abroad. Just be thankful that you have a parliamentary system and that good old want-of- confidence vote. We lack it here and the nation remains shackled to a lame duck.

The democrats are not too hot either as they have too many conservative members. Control by businessmen and interests is really putting the fox in charge of the chicken coop. No one group offers a fair deal so mixed legislatures offer most hope for ordinary citizens.

The mood of the U.S. is changing so there is hope that changes will not be too long in coming. Financial bankruptcy may also change the picture. We hope not, but it is pretty close. G. F. Frazer Nipomo, Calif.
