Several issues were stronger this week, reflecting improvements in precious metal prices. On the platinum front, Boston Bay Mines, which controls the Lac des Iles platinum/palladium deposit north of Thunder Bay, Ont., advanced to $4-$4.50. Madeleine Mines, which trades on the TSE and hit a new high at $4.15, has an option to bring the property to production. Belleterre Quebec Mines, which has a 39.7% stake in Boston Bay, traded at 68 cents -73 cents .
Errington Industrial Enterprises closed at 85 cents -90 cents . The company has agreed to purchase the Stairs property near Matachewan, Ont. Last week, we incorrectly said the Stairs property never produced any gold. In fact, the mine, which only operated for 6 months in 1965, produced 2,764 oz of gold. Errington, which plans to complete a financing, will also change its name to Goldteck Mines.
Other better issues include Hansen Minerals at 20 cents -25 cents and Probe Mines, which traded up to 35 cents -40 cents . Biron Bay Resources remained active at 85 cents -90 cents .
