At a cost of $17 million, B.C.’s newly-formed Highland Valley Copper will install two semi- mobile in-pit crushing plants, equipped with gyratory crushers which will be among the world’s largest.
The company, a partnership between Cominco Ltd., and Lornex Mining Corp., has awarded the contract for the two plants to Krupp Canada Inc., of Calgary, Alta. They will be part of a project to increase the capacity of the Highland Valley pit.
Another contract, worth $1.2 million, goes to Wright Engineers of Vancouver to design and provide inspection and start-up assistance for a conveyor system from the in-pit crushing plants to the Lornex concentrator.
