General News & Comment Sask. minerals

Economic Minerals of Saskatchewan, the proceedings of a symposium held in Regina late last year, is now available for purchase from the Saskatchewan Geological Society, at Box 234, Regina S4P2Z6.

Soft-bound copies of the 216- page book cost $30; hard-bound, $38.50. Both prices include packaging and postage to addresses in Canada. Orders from outside Canada should include an additional $3.50(C) to cover higher postage.

The book contains 20 papers, beginning with two overviews of the province’s regional geology. The following 10 contributions deal with metallic ores which contain platinum-group elements, gold or uranium and which mostly occur in Precambrian rocks.

They are succeeded by eight papers about such commodities as potash, kaolin, coal, sodium sulphate and gravel which are associated with Phanerozoic rocks.
