Report says Williams drops role in lawsuit

The Ontario Court of Appeal had received no official notice by Nov 12 that Lola Williams and Williams Co., a private company based in Salisbury, Md., have dropped their intervention in Lac Minerals’ appeal of a Mar 7 Ontario Supreme Court decision awarding the Page- Williams gold mine at Hemlo, Ont., to International Corona Resources.

The intervenants were not a party to the initial lawsuit but were permitted to file an intervention in the appeal.

A Dow Jones report out of Salisbury says the intervenants do not object to the transfer of the mine to Corona as directed by the trial judge.

The report says Mrs Williams, who retains a 1.5% net smelter return royalty on the property she sold to Lac, and the Williams Co., were satisfied with Corona’s stated intention to honor the terms of the agreement the intervenants had with Lac.
