Base metals demand not expected to fold

The top nation in usage of gold in coinage in 1988 was Canada, displacing the U.S. which led the way in 1987 and 1986. Last year, more than 4.9 million oz were used by 49 nations in the minting of gold coins, with Canada accounting for 1.2 million oz, or about 25%.
