Akiko, Bradner option Nevada claims

Exploration activity is heating up in Nevada’s Crescent Valley area where Placer Dome (TSE) is advancing the Pipeline and South Pipeline gold deposits. The most recent entrants in the region are Akiko Gold Resources (VSE) and Bradner Resources (VSE) which jointly have an option to acquire a 4,800-acre claim group which includes the 3,000-acre Bru-Lovie block.

The Bru-Lovie claims are three miles north of the Pipeline discovery and straddle the Gold Quartz fault, which the juniors consider to be a source of some of the known mineralization in the district. The claims were drilled by Newmont in 1988, and this work is reported to have produced a high percentage of encouraging gold values at relatively shallow depths.

The remaining claims adjoin the Bru-Lovie claims to the east, and were also drilled in recent years. Encouraging results at shallow depths were reported along a southeast-northwest trending structure.

An exploration program to include drilling is being planned and will be operated by Bradner.

In Ontario, Akiko owns a 50% interest in the White River project with partner Gold Giant Minerals (TSE). The 28,000-acre property is considered a “sleeper” in that geological similarities to the nearby Hemlo gold deposits have been noted.

The property has never been drilled because of an ownership dispute, but the juniors consider this property’s exploration potential to be “excellent.” The main target is the Sugar vein which has an average width of two metres over the known trenched strike length of 750 metres, with the showing open along strike in both directions.

Akiko and Gold Giant expect that a legal dispute between the original staking syndicate and a previous partner will be resolved shortly. This will pave the way for Hemlo Gold Mines (TSE) to earn a 50% interest by spend- ing $500,000 on the property.

Each junior will then hold a 25% interest.

Once the legal dispute is settled, the companies plan an extensive trenching and diamond- drilling program.
