Joutel exploring in Cuba

Work is continuing on three of Joutel Resources’ (TSE) gold properties in Cuba.

Programs are under way on La Zona Barita, in the Sierra Maestra concession near Santiago de Cuba; El Jaguey, in the Vidot-Cascorro concession near Camaguey; and La Vega, in the Arimoa-Los Cerros concession near Santa Clara. At La Zona Barita, four holes have been drilled in a 10-hole program, the goal of which is to outline an open-pit gold resource amenable to heap leaching.

The holes drilled to date have intersected alteration and mineralization similar to that which was reported in the surface trenching. Significant trench results included 1.82 grams gold per tonne over 40 metres and 0.9 grams over 142 metres.

Core samples have been sent to Canada for analysis, and results are expected late in November.

Stripping and sampling of the Jaguey gold discovery have exposed a highly altered shear zone in the vicinity of a regional deformation zone. Significant channel samples from this structurally complex zone include 18.43 grams over 8.9 metres in sample EJ-01, 6.8 grams over 7.8 metres in sample EJ-02, and 14.5 grams over 11 metres in sample EJ-03.

A control grid is being established over the discovery to facilitate an induced polarization (IP) survey. Drilling is expected to commence at El Jaguey in late November.

In September, at La Vega, the company discovered an extensive, 2-by-1-km, gold soil, geochemical anomaly with values up to 4 grams.

Recent trenching to bedrock over a portion of the anomaly has exposed an intense alteration zone within basaltic rocks along the contact of a diorite intrusion. The zone is 120 metres in thickness and remains open along strike. Sampling of the alteration zone has begun, as trenching continues. Soil sampling is continuing to the east, where the anomaly remains open. Geophysical surveys, including IP, will be completed over the soil anomaly prior to drill testing.

In addition to these gold projects, Joutel is evaluating other prospects, including the Antonio polymetallic deposit in the Santa Clara area and several copper-gold targets in the Tamarindo area, near Las Tunas.
