Falco, Alexis recognized by Quebec association

The team of Falconbridge (FAL.LV-T, FAL-N) and Alexis Minerals (AMC-V, AXSMF-O) were recently presented the Prospector of the Year award during a ceremony at the Quebec Mineral Exploration Association’s annual exploration conference in Quebec City.

The award recognizes the significance of the duo’s West Ansil base metal discovery in March in the storied Rouyn-Noranda camp. The property is located 15 km northwest of the town of Rouyn-Noranda, Que.

“This discovery is more satisfying given that it follows after only four months of mineral exploration in the area,” says Gilles Bouchard, manager of copper-zinc exploration in North America with Falconbridge. “We are very proud of the team of geologists and technicians in our Rouyn-Noranda office.”

Falconbridge and Alexis continue to evaluate the West Ansil property.

Falconbridge has about 14,500 workers at operations in 18 countries.

Alexis Minerals is a junior exploration company exploring two properties in Val d’Or and Rouyn-Noranda.
