TSX Venture Exchange August 15-21

Board-room growth appears to be finding more favour these days than drill-bit growth, at least among companies listed on the senior North American exchanges. That’s less the case on the TSX Venture Exchange, where juniors generating excitement from exploration projects appear to be dominating the most-active list. Their promising exploration results helped push the S&P-TSX Venture Composite Index up 13.78 points to close at 2,617.07 over the Aug. 15-21 report period.

Plexmar Resources topped the most-active list based on investor interest in its Bolsa del Diablo gold property in Peru, though the stock was only up a penny to 75 over the session.

Majescor Resources was up two pennies at 15.5 after announcing a non-brokered private placement of $1.5 million for 11.53 million shares. The company intends to use the bulk of the proceeds to explore its international projects, which include a diamond project in Brazil and a copper-zinc-silver-gold prospect in Madagascar.

Globestar Mining remained flat at $1.18 in active trading after reporting results from 25 holes at its wholly owned Cumpie Hill nickel-laterite project in the Dominican Republic. The highlight was a 25.9-metre intersection grading 1.6% nickel.

Bravo Venture Group jumped 26 to 90 after reporting high-grade gold assays of up to 14.3 oz. per ton from a recent sampling program at its wholly owned Woedwodski Island project in southeastern Alaska. The high-grade samples were collected from surface outcrop and rubble, with high-grade quartz located in float and narrow veins. More work is planned.

Macarthur Minerals was one of the top percentage gainers, up 50 to $1.50 in modest trading. The junior is drilling the Lake Giles nickel-chrome sulphide prospect in Western Australia.

Georgia Ventures posted a 47% gain to 25 after announcing it was exploring the Bogutu gold deposit situated in the prospective Tien Shan belt of northwestern China.

Madison Minerals was up 35% to 46 after Buffalo Gold announced it has intersected 33.4 metres of 15.7 grams gold, including 19.3 metres of 24.32 grams gold, along with other promising results from the Mount Kare gold project in Papua New Guinea. Buffalo has rights to earn an interest in the project from Madison. On its own, Madison has launched a 40-hole, 22,000-ft. drilling program at its Lewis gold property in Lander Cty., Nev. Seabridge Gold was one of the largest value gainers, up 72 to $15.25. The company has assembled a portfolio of gold projects, mostly in North America, including ones previously owned or explored by majors that were cut loose during the last industry downturn.

Pacific Booker Minerals has been making steady market gains since announcing plans to develop its Morrison property near Granisle, B.C. The company has proposed a 25,000-tonne-per-day mine to produce an estimated 130,000 tonnes of concentrate per year containing 37,000 tonnes of copper and byproduct gold. The company’s shares got a 70 boost to close at $7.40.
