Goldbelt Resources (GLD-V, GLDDF-O) is ready to start preproduction work at its Belahouro project in north-central Burkina Faso after receiving a prefeasibility study on production from the Inata deposit.
The study, produced by GBM Minerals Engineering Consultants, sees production of an average 106,500 oz. gold annually for five years, from an open pit feeding a carbon-in-leach plant. The plant would handle 1.5 million tonnes of ore annually.
GBM calculated a reserve of 9.2 million tonnes grading 2.15 grams gold per tonne on Inata and the nearby Minfo deposit, out of a measured and indicated resource of 15.6 million tonnes grading 1.9 grams. Most of the ore is oxide material, on which testing has indicated a 95% recovery; mixed ore recoveries drop 2%.
Goldbelt has an option on the Brocks Creek gold plant from Australian producer Tanami Gold (TAM-A, TNGKF-O), and plans to begin relocating that plant.
A final feasibility study is scheduled for 2007, reflecting this year’s drilling program. Costing for the prefeasibility study was largely done to bankable standards, so the final study will mainly reflect changes in resources and reserves.
