TSX Venture Exchange March 27-April 2

The junior mining-dominated S&P-TSX Venture Composite Index turned in a modest 15.03-point gain to close the March 27-April 2 trading session at 3,190.06. Average daily trading volumes continued to rise over the week to 88.7 million shares.

The market remained strongly bullish with 69 explorers rising to new 52-week highs on the week, versus just 28 that slid to annual lows.

On a gain of 49%, Leeward Capital traded 20.5 million shares over the session to close up 10.5 at 32 per share. The company recently completed drilling at its Nithi Mountain molybdenum project, in central B.C. Drilling returned a 94.5-metre intercept that assayed 0.1% MoS2, including a 9.1-metre interval of 0.53% MoS2.

With 15 million shares changing hands, Crowflight Minerals continued to be a market favourite, closing up 9 at 92 per share. A recently tabled update to the bankable feasibility study on its Bucko Lake nickel deposit, in northern Manitoba, shows a $44-million boost in the project’s net present value.

Plexmar Resources shed 5.5 on volume of 14.9 million shares to close at 38.5 per share. It recently halted ground work on its Bolsa del Diablo copper-gold project in northern Peru while it negotiates an agreement with locals prior to a drill campaign.

Molybdenum hunter Bard Ventures traded almost 14 million shares over the week to close at 43 per share, a gain of 8. The market is anxiously awaiting further drill results from its Lone Pine project in northern B.C., where it recently intersected a wide moly interval.

A hot nickel market triggered strong trading in Mustang Minerals with more than 10.6 million shares changing hands. The stock made a 47% gain on the week, closing up 45 at $1.41 per share. Mustang recently began a prefeasibility study on its Maskwa nickel project in southeastern Manitoba.

Shares of Hard Creek Nickel posted a 42% gain on the session to close up 82 at $2.75 apiece on trading volume of over 1.2 million. Hard Creek recently boosted the resource tally at its Turnagain nickel project, in northern B.C., to 428.6 million measured and indicated tonnes averaging 0.22% nickel.

Following poor drill results from its Weixi zinc project in China, Red Dragon Resources lost 38% to close the week down 49 at 81 per share on trading volume of 4 million shares.

Tenajon Resources continued its rally, gaining 58% on the session to close up 33 at 90 per share on trading volume of 7.3 million shares. A recently released resource estimate for the Silver Coin project near Stewart, B.C., boosted contained gold on its Kansas claim, which is under option to Pinnacle Mines and Mountain Boy Minerals.

Excited about a resource estimate on Largo Resources’ Northern Dancer molybdenum-tungsten project in the Yukon, investors drove up the company’s stock 55% on trading volume of 4.2 million shares. Largo shares closed the week at 72 apiece.
