American Mining Hall of Fame to celebrate new inductees

This year's inductee, guest of honour and featured speaker is Timothy R. Snider. Snider began his career as an underground mine labourer at Phelps Dodge's Copper Queen operation in Bisbee, Ariz. He received his B. Sc. in geology and chemistry at Northern Arizona University in 1979. During his time with Phelps, he helped the company develop large-scale, low-cost, solution extraction-electrowinning process technology and launched the company's first major mine and concentrator, Candelaria, in South America. In 1998, after 37 years with the company, he became president and in 2003, he took on the role of chief operating officer. When Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold (FCX-n) acquired Phelps in 2007, Snider stayed on as the company's president and COO until his retirement in 2008.This year's inductee, guest of honour and featured speaker is Timothy R.
