Yorbeau hits deep high-grade at Rouyn

Diamond drilling at the Cinderella East zone at its Rouyn property in Quebec is delivering deep, high-grade gold for Yorbeau Resources (YRB.A-T).

One of two recent holes at the zone, part of the Rouyn property that covers a 12-km-long stretch of the Cadillac-Larder Lake Break, in northern Quebec, has hit two mineralized zones.

At 433 metres depth, hole 519 encountered 4 metres of 12.6 grams gold per tonne (uncut) in a silicified zone of the Piche Group, then went on to hit at 546 metres depth, 10.4 metres of 74.67 grams gold (uncut) in quartz veins in altered metasediments.

Hole 520, drilled 200 metres downdip of hole 519, did not reach the deeper mineralized zone due to technical problems. But it did cut several mineralized intervals, including: 3 metres of 5.7 grams gold from 39 metres depth and 1.7 metres of 3.3 grams gold from 87.3 metres (both in quartz veins in volcanics), and 2 metres of 1.6 grams gold from 603.7 metres and 1.2 metres of 2.5 grams gold from 614.3 metres depth (both in a silicified zone in the Piche Group).

True widths are estimated at about 60% of apparent widths.

The Cinderella East target was first discovered in 2008, 700 metres east of the historic Cinderella prospect. The company says the intense alteration and mineralization observed in core from Cinderella East encouraged it to focus on this zone in 2009. Yorbeau also says the Piche Group is thicker and less deformed around Cinderella East, which may mean gold deposits that may have formed in the area are better preserved.

The company has adopted a strategy of drilling widely spaced stepout holes at its 270-sq.-km Rouyn property, rather than defining existing mineralization, in order to demonstrate its potential to host greater tonnage.

Yorbeau is currently drilling the Gamble Lake zone at Rouyn, but will resume drilling at Cinderella East after that.

Cinderella East and Gamble Lake lie between the Astoria and Augmitto blocks (two of seven blocks on the property), where exploration dates back to the 1930s. A 2004 estimate showed that Augmitto hosts open-pit measured and indicated resources of 770,000 tonnes grading 2.57 grams gold per tonne undiluted, with another 1.97 million measured and indicated tonnes grading 4.51 grams gold underground for 349,100 oz. Inferred open-pit resources stood at 14,000 tonnes grading 2.29 grams gold, with underground resources in the same category adding another 385,000 tonnes at 4.74 grams gold for 60,800 oz.

Yorbeau shares were up 5¢ or 20% to 29¢ in afternoon trading on volume of more than 1.5 million shares. The company has 139 million shares outstanding.
