Nordex signs 3 year deal with URS

Nordex Explosives (NXX-V) has renewed its contract with URS Canadian Operations, the mine operator at Agrium (AGU-T, AGU-N)’s phosphate operation in Kapuskasing, Ont.

The 3-year deal with Kirkland Lake, Ont.-based Nordex carries no minimum volume or dollar commitment and resulting explosive sales will be a function of the operating activity at the Agrium mine site.

Nordex has been working at the Kapuskasing site since 2004.

Agrium’s Kapuskasing Phosphate Operations is the first phosphate project of its kind in Canada and ranks as one of the highest-grade phosphate mines in the world.

Nordex has been a distributor of explosives for the mining, quarry and road construction industries since 1970.

The company recently fought off a bid by dissident shareholders to take over Nordex.
