Quebec-based, diamond-drilling equipment manufacturer Fordia has been recognized by the Quebec Society for Quality (QSQ), a professional standards organization.

The company received the Grand Prix, the organization’s highest distinction, for its management and overall performance. The award was presented by Quebec Premier Pauline Marois during a gala luncheon at the Montreal Convention Centre earlier this month.

“I am extremely proud of the accomplishments of our employees since the company’s founding in 1977,” Fordia president Luc Paquet says.

Fordia’s teamwork and good business practices are what make it one of the best businesses in Quebec, according to the QSQ. This year the company opened offices in Colombia and South Africa, as well as distribution outlets in China and Mongolia.

While accepting the award, Paquet called on the Quebec government to provide more business incentives, which he says “are the lifeblood of our economy.” He stressed that businesses create wealth for the province, and that it’s important they can access resources.
