Are Canada’s Northwest Territories a prime destination for the world’s mineral explorers and developers?
While the NWT may have gained a reputation a decade ago as having become too bureaucratic for miners, the territorial government has in recent years emerged with stronger regulatory powers taken on from the federal government and a new drive to make the jurisdiction attractive for mineral investment.
Featured is a NWT panel session held at the Canadian Mining Symposium in London in April 2018 with: Wally Schumann, Northwest Territories Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment and Minister of Infrastructure (introductory remarks); Tom Jensen, Northwest Territories Deputy Minister, Tourism and Investment; Michael J. Byron, president and CEO, Nighthawk Gold; Joseph Campbell, CEO, TerraX Minerals; Ken Armstrong, president and CEO, North Arrow Minerals; and Robin Goad, president and CEO, Fortune Minerals. Northern Miner editor-in-chief John Cumming served as moderator.
We also have a new Ric’s Picks segment with Northern Miner staff writer Richard Quarisa.
John sets the table with a roundup of the biggest commodity and mining news.
