‘Unexpected’ mineralization hints at an even bigger Filo del Sol system

Filo Corp. (TSX: FIL; NASDAQ: FIL) has released assay results from its recent work at the Filo del Sol project’s Aurora zone, confirming the continuity of high-grade copper-gold mineralization and highlighting the significant discovery potential of the area.

Filo said Tuesday drill hole FSDH084 successfully bridged a 160-meter gap between holes FSDH055C and FSDH057. The results showed 1,406 meters at 1.13% copper equivalent (CuEq) from 170 meters, with notable segments including 46 meters at 310 grams silver per tonne from 394 meters and 642 meters at 1.7% CuEq from 616 meters.

Exploration elsewhere encountered several mineralized intersections, most notably with hole FSGT006, which cut 12 meters at 5.21 grams gold per tonne, about 600 meters east of the Aurora zone.

A recent magnetotelluric geophysical survey indicated high conductivity zones stretching parallel to the Filo-to-Bonita anomaly over 2 km, further amplifying the project’s exploration prospects.

Jamie Beck, Filo’s president and CEO, stated that the findings “confirm continuity of high-grade mineralization within the Aurora zone and serve as a reminder of the overall size and grade of this remarkable deposit.” “The unexpected mineralization and alteration encountered in the geotechnical holes, combined with the recent geophysical survey results, is starting to suggest that the Filo del Sol system may be even bigger than we think,” Beck said.

In a note to clients, Geordie Mark of Haywood Securities noted the project’s consistency in quality, its expansion potential and the presence of signs indicating the presence of an even larger mineralized system.

He says the Aurora Zone drilling, especially from hole FSDH084, confirmed the grade and continuity of geology over substantial sites. Further, the geotechnical drilling showcased the potential for gold-silver mineralization extensions up to 2 km south of Bonita East, and the lateral geotechnical drilling pointed to an extensive silver-zinc mineralized alteration up to a mile east of the Aurora zone, indicating even broader bounds to the collective magmatic-hydrothermal systems.

Mark also notes the completion of FSDH087 to a depth of 1,475 meters south of Bonita on the Aurora zone, reinforcing the belief in the Aurora zone’s continuity and vertical height.

Mark anticipates that Filo del Sol will see continuous drilling activities for years using underground and surface methods.

Filo’s prefeasibility-stage Filo del Sol project produced the highest width x grade value among copper explorers so far this year. On Jan. 10, the Vancouver-headquartered company reported that hole FSDH071 cut 1,028 metres grading 0.78% copper for a width x grade value of 801.84 at Filo del Sol.

As of Jan. 18, Filo del Sol hosts indicated resources of 432.6 million tonnes grading 0.33% copper for 3.2 million lb of metal. The inferred resource stands at 211.6 million tonnes grading 0.27% copper for 1.3 million lb of metal.

Nine rigs are active on the project, with winter activity focused on Aurora infill and the Aurora-Bonita gap drilling.
