Quebec expects to capitalize on the emerging North America-based critical mineral supply chain from mines to battery cells, The Northern Miner’s Canadian Mining Symposium heard this month in London.

“The strategic aim is to create a symbiotic, vertically integrated supply chain supporting exploration, mine and midstream industrial development,” Jocelyn Douhéret, the director for mining policies at the Natural Resources and Forests ministry, told the Quebec-government-sponsored panel.

Osisko Gold Royalties (TSX: OR; NYSE: OR) chair Sean Roosen shared his extensive experience working in the province and elsewhere. He stressed the province’s mineral endowment and the value of the governmental assistance available such as the charity flow-through tax incentive scheme allowing juniors to raise capital. Also, explorers have free access to reams of detailed geological survey data.

Normand Champigny, CEO of Quebec Precious Metals, mentioned sustainable mining practices, the province’s hydropower and the ease of access for explorers in the region.
