The Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia’s President, Keerit Jutla, recently spoke with The Northern Miner at their video booth during the Roundup event in Vancouver. He discussed the provincial government’s first phase of its critical mineral strategy, among other pressing issues facing the industry.
“In B.C., our regulatory regime for consultation and environmental stewardship is among the best in the country, positioning us as a global source of critical minerals. We’re committed to achieving this in a way that’s environmentally conscious, focuses on reconciliation, and aligns with our low carbon future demands,” Jutla shared during his interview with TNM’s Western Editor, Henry Lazenby.
In the context of global competition and environmental stewardship, Jutla highlighted the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. He described the first phase of the B.C. government’s Critical Mineral Strategy as a “good first step in the right direction.” He expressed eagerness for more detailed plans and emphasized the importance of addressing the legal framework surrounding mineral tenure and enhancing indigenous consultation.
