This week’s top three gold drill intercepts come from Australia.
Emmerson Resources (ASX: ERM) reported on Aug. 17 assay results from the second phase of reverse-circulation drilling at its fully-owned Tennant Creek project in New South Wales. The program is designed to provide a better understanding of the emerging Hermitage copper-gold discovery. The best intercept was drill hole HERCDD010, which returned 4.8 metres grading 214.4 grams gold per tonne from 164 metres depth, for a width x grade value of 1,029.12. The drilling is interpreted as confirming the initial high-grade copper discovery in March (drill hole HERC003) of 116 metres at 3.4% copper and 0.88 gram gold per tonne, this time adding high-grade gold, cobalt, and bismuth. Encouragingly, the gold, silver and bismuth grades increase with depth, with the best intersection (4.8 metres at 19.4% copper, 214.4 grams gold per tonne, 103.8 grams silver per tonne, and 13.75% bismuth) being immediately above and truncated by the fault. The company believes there is potential to extend these grades with further drilling below the fault.
Gascoyne Resources (ASX: GCY) produced the second-best drill intersection this week on its flagship Dalgaranga operation in Western Australia. On Aug. 16, the company reported drilling the westerly-striking extension of the Gilbey’s North prospect resulted in a record intercept and confirmed a substantial new high-grade lode discovery. Drilling in hole DGRC1110 returned 59 metres grading 12.5 grams gold per tonne from 138 metres depth, for a width x grade value of 737.5. The new high-grade lode system is on the immediate western flank of the company’s Gilbey’s North prospect, less than 1 km from the 2.5 million tonnes per year operating processing plant.
This week’s third-best drill hole came from Aurelia Resources (ASX: AMI) and its Federation property in central-eastern New South Wales. On Aug. 15, the company reported “spectacular” drill intercepts, the highest grade at Federation yet. The company reported a drill intercept of 0.7 metre grading 378 grams gold per tonne from 504.4 metres depth for a width x grade value of 264.6. The intercept was part of a broader intercept of 20 metres grading 26.8% zinc and lead combined, 12.5 grams gold, and 0.8% copper, with another intercept in the same hole returning 9.5 metres grading 48.2% zinc and lead combined, 26.1 grams gold and 1% copper from 499.5 metres downhole. The company expects the results to underpin a forthcoming feasibility study on the Federation project.
