Exhibit Lecture by Mindy S. Vogel

April 13, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

On April 13, Mindy S. Vogel, a Forest Service geologist, will present a lecture entitled “Rock, Paper, Forest Service: A Summary of Mining and Permitting on Forest Service Lands.” This lecture is in pairing with the Western Museum of Mining & Industry’s new exhibit, “Minerals You Use Every Day from the National Forests.” Light refreshments will be offered. The museum requests that those interested in attending please contact the museum to reserve a spot. Please call 719-488-0880 or respond by e-mail at rsvp@wmmi.org.

This exhibit consists of an interactive component from the National Museum of Forest Service History and a selection of minerals from WMMI’s collection. Whether we realize it or not, modern civilization is heavily dependent on minerals for everything from computers and electricity to toothpaste and makeup. This exhibit highlights this importance and demonstrates how America’s national forests help supply the country’s mineral needs. This exhibit will be open through June 3.
