Water is fundamental to mining and mineral industry and widely used for processing and treatment, heating, cooling, dust suppression, etc. Managing water and effluent discharge quality throughout the mine life is key to efficient mining and has a big role in mining environmental impact and footprint.
Treatment technologies often must deal with regulatory requirements, environmental sensitivity, social issues and conflicts and there are risks associated with each option. Mining companies must treat wastewater to highest standards, need to recycle and have commitment to sustainable water use.
In this course we introduce participants the basic concepts of available technologies and operations involved in treatment and managing water and waste water in mining and mineral industries.
