If a mining company struggles to know its purpose, how can it expect to build public trust in the industry?
George Hemingway, Managing Partner and Head of Innovation Practice at Stratalis Consulting put that question to the audience at The Northern Miner’s recent Global Mining Symposium in Toronto.
“Farmers don’t just grow corn, they feed the world. The halo of purpose and why what you do matters is more important than what you do… that is key to transforming our industry in the most uncertain times,” he said.
Hemingway explained in his talk that questions about purpose are more important than ever as the mining industry faces the challenges of a “goliath of change” in technology and the energy transition, and declining public trust in institutions and corporations.
