1992 — A LOOK BACK — Save Our North springs into action

A grassroots mining campaign from northern Ontario captured the attention of many in 1992, and in particular that of the provincial government. Premier Bob Rae, Mines Minister Shelley Martel and other cabinet ministers appeared at a Save Our North meeting organized during the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada at the end of march in Toronto.

The Save Our North campaign is a broadly based effort by prospectors, workers, concerned individuals and communities whose main goal is to convince the government to promote and support mining, mineral exploration and other natural resources industries.
